I am a Political Science and Women’s Studies student at the University of Victoria and I am hoping to conduct research on reproductive rights activism in my research project: “Youth Engagement in the Politics of Reproductive Justice.” I would like to conduct audio-taped interviews with reproductive rights activists from across Canada between the ages of 19 and 30. I will be exploring what forms reproductive rights activism has taken amongst youth in Canada today.
This research is important because youth in Canada appear to be engaged in reproductive rights activism but there have been few formal studies of its effects and little national cohesion. As someone who has been active in Victoria in the area of reproductive justice, I am interested in speaking to other young activists about their experiences.
The interview will be no more than one hour in length. Participants will be electronically sent a copy of the interview questions in advance which will serve as a guide for the interview. The confidentiality of the data will be protected. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.
It is anticipated that the results of this study will be shared with others in the following ways: I will be developing an online network of reproductive rights activists and potentially through a published newsletter for Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada. In addition, I may present my research to other recipients of the Undergraduate Research Scholarship at the University of Victoria in April, 2011.
If you would like to take part in this study or if you have any questions or comments regarding this message or my research please send me an email.
